MOTS-c
10mg
Mitochondrial-derived peptide for metabolic research.
Research Profile
About MOTS-c
MOTS-c (Mitochondrial ORF of the Twelve-S rRNA type-c) is a 16-amino-acid mitochondrial-derived peptide encoded within the mitochondrial genome rather than the nuclear genome. It is often described as a "mitochondrial hormone" because it appears to signal between the mitochondria and the rest of the cell.
MOTS-c has become a focus of metabolic and aging research, particularly in studies of cellular energy regulation and exercise physiology. Supplied lyophilized for laboratory research use only.
Mechanism of Action
MOTS-c is studied for its activation of the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) pathway and its influence on glucose metabolism and metabolic homeostasis; under metabolic stress it is reported to translocate to the nucleus, where it is investigated for its role in regulating adaptive, stress-responsive gene expression.
Research Applications
- Metabolic-regulation and AMPK research
- Insulin-sensitivity models
- Exercise-physiology and mitochondrial studies
- Aging and cellular-stress research
Provided for educational and research context only. MOTS-c is sold strictly for in-vitro laboratory and research use — it is not a drug, supplement, or medical product, is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, and is not for human or veterinary use.
